Tragic Incident at Garfield High School
A teenager was fatally shot near Garfield High School on Thursday afternoon, as reported by the Seattle Police Department (SPD). Despite lifesaving efforts, the student succumbed to his injuries at Harborview Medical Center. This tragic event has deeply affected the Seattle community, prompting immediate responses from city officials and law enforcement.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the 400 block of 23rd Avenue. SPD officers responded quickly, providing medical aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition but later died. The suspect, described as a high school-aged male, has not yet been located.
